In 2017, solar energy dominated global investment in new power generation like never before, reports the United Nations Environment Programme (UN Environment).
The world installed a record 98 GW of new solar capacity, far more than the net additions of any other power technology – including fossil fuels, nuclear or other types of renewable energy, says UN Environment. This 98 GW accounted for 38% of the net new power capacity coming on stream during 2017, the report says.
